We love playing board games, especially when it gets super cold during the Minnesota winter. Gather your friends, make some popcorn, and get to playing!
Here are some of our favorite boards games for two, a group, or larger crowd:
King Domino
This game is reminiscent of dominos with tiles that need to be matched up. Something we love about this one is that you can play with only 2 players or you can have up to 4 teams of people. You build your “kingdom” out of tiles that have crowns for points. What’s great about this game is that there is a set ending point and it goes quickly but is still super fun.
Ticket to Ride
For a calmer, yet strategic game, this is one of our faves. You build your train route throughout the United States by getting cards and building on routes, while trying not to get blocked by anyone else.
It takes strategy, but it’s really easy to catch on to for new players!
Codenames
We love this game because you can play with lots of people since it’s divided into two teams. The goal is to give a one word clue to describe multiple words and hope that your team can guess the right answers.
Codenames is our mom’s favorite, so we especially love playing with her!
Say Anything
This one is new, but we love it! It really helps to know the people you’re playing with because the answers can be more personal. Think Apples to Apples, but with more personal questions and answers.
Say Anything can really get the laughs going!
Settlers of Catan
We started playing Catan years ago, but it’s still one of our go-to games as a family. There’s tons of different versions and add-ons for Catan, but we love the original game.
This one requires a little bit more strategy and takes between 1/2 hour to an hour.
We got Azul and Villainous this Christmas and they both have been fun. Azul is quicker play and less complicated than Villainous but we have enjoyed playing both. Say Anything and King Domino are not ones that I am familiar with, we will need to check them out.

I have played all the games pictured above except the dominos one. I just played Code Names for the first time about a week ago and it was so fun!! Leesha and Kailee are really good at finding new games to play with 2 or more people but Catan is a favorite! 7 Wonders , Dominion and Citadels are a few newer games we enjoy đ We are gamers that is for sure!!
