A couple weeks ago, I went on vacation with my husband’s family and it was SO beautiful! We flew into Las Vegas and then rented a car so we could explore multiple places. The first thing we noticed when we got off the plane was the dry heat, so different from our summer humidity in Minnesota. After getting in late and spending the night in Vegas, we went to the Hoover Dam. There we took a tour, which was very interesting to learn about the building process and the history. Then we headed to La Verkin, where we stayed in a VRBO and got ready to hike! Throughout the trip, we hiked about 50 miles and got to see so many beautiful places. Here’s all of the parks we went to:
Zion National Park
Ahhh Zion is so cool and everyone should go at some point in their life! Since this was the park closest to where we were staying, we went to Zion multiple days. On the first day, we hiked Observation Point, which was an 8 mile hike with a high incline. It was for sure a challenge, but the view at the top was absolutely worth it. Bring plenty of water and get ready for a climb though! The other day we went to Zion, we hiked the Narrows. It’s in a canyon between two mountains and you are hiking in the river, which is interesting and different from anything I’ve done before.
Bryce Canyon
SO SO PRETTY! Definitely my favorite place on the trip because the colors were so beautiful. We hiked Peekaboo and Queen’s Garden trails and it was a cool loop around the park.
Escalate
This was further from where we were staying, so we were only there for a few hours, but I would’ve loved to explore it more. We hiked Calf Creek Falls, which ends at a waterfall that was really sweet. The water was pretty cold, but it felt good after a hot hike.
Grand Canyon North Rim
From the pictures I have seen of the South Rim, the North Rim is quite different because there are a lot more trees and you can’t really see the Colorado River. It was still so cool to see and hike around. The North Rim is a lot less busy and there were some awesome lookouts where you could see the canyon.
